The power of the documentary film is its ability to shine a spotlight on issues, stories, and perspectives that would otherwise go unheard and thus unnoticed. It is this unique power that enables documentaries to broaden horizons. With the help of guest instructors and SPNN staff SPNN's Doc U program participants learned all aspects of documentary film making through workshops, one-on-one meetings and mentoring.
Of the 45 applicants 12 individuals were selected to participate in the program and 7 completed their docs. SPNN's Doc U program is a part of the Access Center.
SPNN’s Doc U program is made possible in part by a grant provided by the Minnesota State Arts Board through an appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature from the State’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.
